Course Description
Student and Parent Contract for Mr. Sabia’s Math Classes

Materials Required in Class Everyday:
- 2 Pencils & erasers
- 1 fine point Dry Erase marker & sock/eraser
- Scientific Calculator (TI-30X IIS)
- Red pens, highlighters & colored pencils
- Protractor or transparent ruler
- Lined paper and Graph paper
- 2”, 3 Ring binder & 5 dividers
- CPM textbook may be kept at home
Grading Policy (Point System):
- Home/Class work surveys – 50 pts. Each
- Quizzes – 200 pts. Each
- Tests – 1,000 pts. Each
All students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA (from 6th through 8th grade) in order to be eligible to participate in all end of the year activities for both 7th and 8th grade, including the promotion ceremony.
Citizenship:
- Students may receive a referral and/or a U (unsatisfactory) on their progress/report card for:
- demonstrating inappropriate, disruptive and/or disrespectful behavior in class
- accumulating 5 or more tardies during the semester.
- Any student who receives more than one U for citizenship may be excluded from participating in field trips and/or school activities such as the fall festival, the 8th grade beach field trip and Lancerpalooza.
Assignments (Classwork & Homework):
- All assignments (Classwork, Homework, and Notes) must be kept in the student’s binder.
- Notes must be kept in Cornell notes format.
- Late assignments will be accepted up to 14 days after the original due date.
- It is the student's responsibility to request and submit missed assignments.
- There will be no extra credit assignments.

Quizzes & Tests:
- All students are allowed one retake (a different version) of any quiz or chapter/unit test.
- The retake grade will replace the original grade only if there's an improvement.
- The student must schedule the retake with Mr. Sabia ahead of time.
