This week, the students will be exposed to fairness. Students will learn about different ways to settle arguments/disagreements/discussions. Students will find ways to determine what is fair for everyone involved in different situations.

This week the students will be exposed to "Structure of Texts." Students will understand how authors of short stories use plot, characters, dialogue, setting, and events to structure their texts.

Students will start to analyze on their own the different characters, dialogue, setting, and events in the story.
 
Tuesday: Jan. 31, 2017
Guided reading: Students and instructor will read aloud the story we started to read yesterday. Instructor will pause/asks questions to verify students are having a complete understanding of the characters, dialogue, setting and events.
 
Wednesday: Feb. 01, 2017
Students will start to answer the teacher made questions handed out by the instructor. Students will work individually.
 
Thursday: Feb. 02, 2017
Students will collaborate in groups. Students will go over their answers.
Instructor will call on students randomly so they can read their answers to the rest of the class. Students will ellaborate on the reason/s why they answered the question on that way/form.
 
Friday: Feb. 03, 2017
Students will be given ample time to complete their classwork. Instructor will make sure students turn in  their work fully completed.

Students will have plenty of time to complete their weekly assignment. Also, they will complete the assignment on page 139.

Students will be given time to complete any other missing assignment from other classes. This activity is done with the whole purpose to assist students to improve their grades in other academic areas.

Students will analyze each character and the lesson the writer wants us to learn. Also, we will compare and contrast the story we are reading this week with the story we read last week.

In order to help your child obtain a better grade, I am going to have your child work on Language Arts. At the same time, your child will receive a grade for the assignments they complete  during my class. So  if you think about it, it is a win-win situation for them. They will get credit for both classes. Hopefully your child takes advantage of this opportunity.

This week, students will analyze the author's point of view, summarize, find the main idea and provide supporting details ( textual evidence). Finally, students will analyze a writers report on Greenland Sharks and provide findings written by the author.
