Assignment

I apologize for making so many changes this week.  The past couple of weeks have come together to create the "perfect storm" of deadline issues.  I was in a workshop for 3 days, and on a school visitation for one more.  8th graders have been to a play, to visit ERHS, and to Hawaii.  Now that all Lancers are back safe and sound, we are now getting back onto the same page.  That being said...

Hawaii trip students have nothing due this week.  All other students have RSG workbook pages 101-106 due tomorrow.

Due:

Assignment

Due to the band trip, and due to the fact that I was in a workshop this past week, the due date for the presidential policy essay has been changed.  Now, rough drafts are due Friday.  If your essay is ready to go, you are awesome, and you have nothing to worry about.  If not, you are still awesome, but you do need to write a rough draft by Friday.

Homework for students NOT on the trip:  Reading Study Guide Workbook pages 101-106, due Thursday, 2/26.

Due:

DBQ Essay:  Early Presidents and their Foreign Policies

Students are currently working on the DBQ packet in class.  All evidence needed for the essay is located within the packet.

The final part of the assignment is to write a 5 paragraph essay responding to the prompt:
The first few Presidents of the United States influenced the future of American foreign policy to become an isolated country that focused on its own issues.  Although their goal and aim was to keep the U.S. isolated and neutral, foreign events made this often times impossible.  Using the information from the documents (at least 3) and from you knowledge of history, identify 3 actions these presidents took and explain how these actions helped keep America isolated from European nations.  In which ways did their actions have unintended consequences?
