Description
 Students will study the physical sciences of Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Science.  They will engage in science Process Skills and Critical Thinking Skills essential for academic success.  Topics include: Atoms to Molecules, Structure and Process of Matter, Physical and Chemical Interactions, Motion and Stability, Forces and Interactions, Energy, Earth Systems and Human Activity in Ecosystems, Engineering Design and Application.

Individual responsibilities include positive class behavior, classwork, note-taking, studying, and preparing for tests.  Responsibilities when in teams include participation in lab inquiry and extended Project-Based Learning and Presentation.

Due this week 1.  Engineer Designing Practice:  Volume box sketches annotated with dimensions, and calculations properly stated with correct units throughout.  Artistic element may be added by shading or cross-hatching areas opposite of origin of light.  
 
2.  Quizizz Pre-Lab questions for Measuring Volume of Regular objects and Irregular Objects.  See Google Classroom.  Open until Oct. 8- retake as often needed to reach best score.  Best Score becomes recorded grade.

Must show title, labels of moveable parts, written steps, and especially DETAILS. Class also had quick lesson on artistic elements-hatching, crosshatching and dots to illustrate depth, light and shadow.

Sept. 4-5 Class Notes "What are the Attributes of Matter and how can Matter be measured?
Sept. 6     Pre-Lab InquiryExplore which parts of the Triple Beam Balance move; and determine 
                                            what is the effect when these parts are purposely moved.
Sept. 7     LAB:        Team will Determine the MASS of 6 objects and record on data sheet.

Latin and Greek are the basis for academic and scientific English. Latin and Greek root words become more common in the vocabulary students encounter as their education advances.  Study of the root words provides a method for students to master the kind of science vocabulary that is standard in higher education.
